Welcome to Mary & Bright!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I’m Mary, an Ohio born, Georgia transplant. I’m also a wife, a Mommy, and a corporate ed tech drop-out who returned to teaching in the classroom after almost fifteen years away, then returned to corporate again to work on a passion project.

I love designing and creating—a project, my home, my classroom, my workplace, you name it.  When I can’t sleep and need a way to calm my mind, I decorate rooms in my head. When I am stressed and need a distraction, I move around the accessories and furniture in my home (Mr. Bright loves that, by the way-ha!).

Several years ago, I started a personal Instagram account to share my home and creative projects with friends. I constantly got questions about decorating and sourcing furniture and accessories. I realized that I could combine my passion for creating and designing with my desire to help others…but where would I find the time? Annnnnd cue 2020. I quite suddenly became a first time SAHM during the pandemic, and that is how Mary & Bright was born. Somehow, 2020 was the roller coaster ride that I didn’t know I needed.

I hope you will find inspiration here, whether it be in my interior decorating adventures, DIY projects, or occasional life adventures. My design mantra is “Fancy on a Budget,” because I believe one can achieve an elevated, beautiful, and luxurious look by making the right design choices and adding in a bit of creativity and elbow grease. The goal of Mary & Bright is to inspire and encourage you to live your best life in some small (or big) way + provide a little entertainment on the side!
